Down to the last few players on Legends list now and tonight we have Number 3, Mike Ward. 9 years playing Legends. 6 years and counting coaching for the Legends. This young man evolved from a back to the basket player as a grade school player to a knock down three point shooter in his high school years. Inside-outside, not many did it better than Mike. Mike was a scorer, period. Mike could fill a score sheet in the matter of minutes. Mike was one half of the greatest screen roll combo that not only Legends has seen, but this coach of 35 years has ever seen. A strong finisher around the hoop, Mike was a guy we went to when we needed a score. A true gamer, Mike had the ability to ''turn the switch on'' once he stepped on the court. Easily the best streak shooter from downtown Legends has had, Mike would hit 5 three's in a game before the coaches even got comfortable on the bench. Mike was a key factor in his team making the championship game at Nationals in junior high and was one of the top dogs on his Legends high school team that won over 90% of their games over four years. Mike, you were one of the greats for us and you continue to bring that fire to the program as a coach. With many thanks and much respect and love for you, MIke, Congrats and a huge appreciative high five and hug! You are what the Legends represent, you are a Legend!
